Try it for 60 days before you pay anything
PennyBolt is free for 60 days. No credit card, no account, nothing to cancel. Download it, put your real statements in it, and reconcile a couple of months of your own money. If it isn’t for you, delete it — you were never charged and there is no subscription lurking anywhere.
Sixty days is deliberate. Money runs on a monthly rhythm, and one month only shows you that an import worked. The second month is when you watch your books balance again and know it wasn’t luck. We would rather you find that out before you pay than after.
Then 30 days to change your mind, no questions asked
If you buy PennyBolt and decide within 30 days that it isn’t right for you, email us and we will refund you in full. We will not ask you to justify it, we will not offer you a discount to stay, and we will not make you talk to anyone.
That is 90 days from your first launch before you are committed to anything.
To request a refund, email [email protected] from the address you bought with, or use the receipt Paddle emailed you. Refunds are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, and normally land back on your card within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
You keep the software. We built it that way on purpose.
Here is the part most companies would never write down: when we refund you, you keep the copy you downloaded.
Not as a courtesy — as a consequence of how PennyBolt is built. There is no licensing server, no activation, and no remote kill switch, because we decided you should never be one server outage or one company decision away from losing access to your own financial history. The same design that means PennyBolt cannot be switched off against you also means we cannot switch it off after a refund.
We are not worried about it. Anyone who evaluates software for two months, buys it, and then asks for their money back has almost certainly found a real reason — and we would rather hear that reason than keep the $79.
Your data is never held hostage, in any state
Trial, paid, refunded, lapsed — it makes no difference:
- Your data file is yours, on your machine, and always readable.
- Export always works. We never gate getting your data out behind a payment. Not ever, under any circumstance.
- Nothing you have already imported or categorised is removed or locked when a trial ends or a refund is issued.
After the trial ends, if you have not purchased, you can still open, read, report on, and export everything. What stops is adding new accounts and new data until you buy — the same principle as a magazine subscription: you keep every issue already on your doormat.
The optional annual updates
The $29.99/yr update subscription is separate from buying the software, and it is genuinely optional.
- Cancel any time, effective at the end of the period you have paid for.
- Cancelling never removes anything. Every feature you already received keeps working, forever. You simply stop receiving new ones.
- Within 30 days of a new subscription charge, the same no-questions refund applies.
- Resubscribe whenever you like and you will get everything released in the meantime.
Statutory rights
Nothing here limits rights you have under the consumer law where you live. If you are in the EU or UK, your statutory rights — including any applicable right of withdrawal — apply on top of this policy, not instead of it. Where our policy is more generous than the law requires, our policy wins.
