Effective 29 July 2026. This policy is for the PennyBolt website and the PennyBolt purchase process. It is published by Management And Technology Resources, Inc., doing business as Dbmob Digital, a Washington corporation (“we”, “us”).
The short version
Your financial data never leaves your computer, so we never receive it.
PennyBolt is desktop software. Your accounts, transactions, balances, payees, categories, and reports live in a single file on your machine. There is no PennyBolt account, no PennyBolt server, and no sign-in. The app does not transmit your financial data anywhere — not to us, not to anyone. There is nothing for us to sell, leak, subpoena, or lose, because we do not have it.
Everything described below is about visiting this website and buying the software. None of it touches your books.
What the app collects: nothing
The PennyBolt desktop application sends us no data of any kind. No telemetry, no crash reports, no usage statistics, no licence check-ins. It works with no internet connection, forever.
If you want to know exactly where your data sits on disk and what is in it, that is documented in How your data is stored.
What this website collects
Analytics. We use two privacy-first analytics services to understand how many people visit and which links and buttons get used:
- Plausible Analytics — counts visits, referrers, outbound link clicks, and specific actions such as starting a download or joining the waitlist. No cookies. Plausible does not build cross-site profiles and does not sell data.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — counts visits and page performance. No cookies.
Both services process your IP address in order to count a visit, and neither stores it in a form that identifies you. Nothing you type on this site is ever sent to either service — our site search records only that a search happened, never the words you searched for.
We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, cross-site trackers, or session recording. We never have.
The waitlist and download list. If you give us your email address, it is stored by Buttondown, our email provider, and used only to send you the download link and occasional product news. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you. We do not sell, rent, or share the list.
Email you send us. Our email is hosted by Fastmail. If you write to us for support, your email address and whatever you tell us sit in that mailbox so we can help you and keep a record of the conversation.
Hosting. This site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (including IP addresses) to deliver pages and block abuse.
What happens when you buy
Paddle.com Market Limited is the Merchant of Record for every PennyBolt purchase. That means Paddle — not us — sells you the licence, processes the payment, and handles sales tax and VAT.
We never see or store your card details. Paddle collects what a payment requires: your name, email address, billing address or country for tax, and payment information. Paddle passes us your name, email address, and country so we can issue your licence and support you. Paddle is an independent controller of the data it collects; their handling is governed by Paddle’s privacy policy.
The five services that touch your data, in one list
| Service | What it handles | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Site hosting, CDN, analytics | Serving this website |
| Plausible | Analytics | Counting visits and actions |
| Buttondown | Email addresses | Download link, product news |
| Fastmail | Email we receive | Answering your support requests |
| Paddle | Purchase and payment data | Selling and taxing the licence |
None of these ever receives your financial data. That distinction is the entire point: the services above exist to run a website and take a payment. Your books are on your computer.
What we never do
- We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information. To anyone. Ever.
- We never show you advertising, and we never let advertisers near you.
- We never gate access to your own data behind a payment. Export and restore always work, in every state, forever.
- We never phone home to check your licence.
How long we keep things
Email addresses stay on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Support email is kept as long as it is useful for supporting you. Purchase records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires — Paddle holds the bulk of these as Merchant of Record. Analytics data is aggregate and is not tied to you.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or send it to you in a portable form. If you are in the EEA or UK, that includes your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability) and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. If you are in California, that includes your CCPA/CPRA rights — and note that we do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of.
Ask by emailing us. We will answer within 30 days, usually far sooner. We will not make you jump through hoops, and we will never charge you for it.
Children
PennyBolt is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will change the effective date at the top and, for anything material, say so on the site. We will not quietly broaden what we collect.
