Life gets busy. Your books don’t break.

Fall behind for a month, or six. PennyBolt takes your statements in any order, so catching up costs you nothing but the time to drag the files in — no rebuilding, no starting over, and no penalty for having stopped. The software you bought doesn’t punish you for having a life.

Optional: extend updates — another year, $29

This section is about what happens after you’ve bought PennyBolt. Your $79 purchase includes twelve months of updates. After that, you can extend updates by another year whenever you like — $29, dated from the day you pay. It is not a subscription: nothing renews automatically, and there is nothing to cancel.

Frequently asked questions

What happens after the 60-day trial?

You can purchase PennyBolt for $79 to keep using it. If you decide not to, your data file is still yours — you can open it, read it, and export everything, forever. What stops is adding new accounts and new data until you buy.

How does that compare to a Quicken subscription over ten years?

Worse for Quicken than most people expect, and we did the arithmetic in public rather than asserting it: a Quicken alternative without a subscription puts both costs side by side, including our own optional update years.

Do I need to keep paying for updates?

No. PennyBolt works without them, permanently. An update year gets you new features and improvements as they ship, but nothing you already have ever stops working.

Do I get version 2?

If a new major version ships while your updates are active, it’s yours — and it stays yours forever, even after they end. If it ships after your update year ended, extending updates ($29) gets you it, along with everything else released in between. Either way, the version you have keeps working untouched.

Can I use PennyBolt on multiple computers?

Yes. Your license covers you, not a specific machine. Install it on your Mac at home and your Windows laptop at work — same file, same data.

What if PennyBolt shuts down?

Your data is a local file on your computer. It doesn’t depend on our servers. Even without PennyBolt the company, your financial history is still yours.
